Why did I choose to complete a PGY2 residency?
I chose to continue my residency training in pediatrics to further build upon my PGY1 experiences, advance my clinical knowledge, and learn from pediatric clinical specialists who share the same devotion to this population. Pediatrics offers the unique opportunity to work with patients from infancy through adolescence, addressing a wide range of medical conditions and developmental stages. Although challenging, pediatrics is a highly rewarding specialty that emphasizes interdisciplinary collaboration and family-centered care which ultimately aligns with my professional aspirations.

Why did I choose St. Joseph’s Hospital at BayCare?
I was drawn to the pediatric residency program at St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital because of its purposeful and well-rounded structure. It includes comprehensive core rotations, unique electives, a robust research curriculum, a leadership and wellness program, and opportunities for active involvement within the Tampa Bay area. Although, what ultimately sold me was the people. I could sense that the preceptors genuinely cared about me as an individual and were truly interested in my perspective. Additionally, the supportive and close-knit environment at BayCare and within the pharmacy department was very apparent and something I valued highly in a residency program. I knew that I would be well supported in my journey to becoming a pediatric pharmacist.
