The PGY2 Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Residency is a 12-month program that provides specialized training in ambulatory care. The longitudinal practice site for the program is the Winter Haven Family Health Center II. Our program is integrated with the FSU Family Medicine Residency and is designed for residents to interact with other healthcare providers in a primary care clinic located within a medically underserved community. We serve a diverse primary care patient population of all ages – pediatrics to geriatrics – with different backgrounds, beliefs, and medical conditions. We strive to improve patient outcomes by promoting collaboration and interprofessional education.
PGY2 Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Program
PGY2 pharmacy residency programs are built on Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) education and PGY1 pharmacy residency programs to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists in specialized areas of practice. PGY2 residencies provide residents with opportunities to function independently as practitioners by conceptualizing and integrating accumulated experience and knowledge and incorporating both into the provision of patient care or other advanced practice settings. Residents who successfully complete an accredited PGY2 pharmacy residency are prepared for advanced patient care, academic, or other specialized positions, along with board certification.
